There is no BMR for ESXi on VBR 11.x ? If you need to "restore" ESXi, all you need is to reinstall ESXi So we use Veeam backup and replication for all our bare metal backups based on Esxi hosts. That way you reduce the overall workload and eventually your upload bandwidth when you store it remotely. With two servers maybe you create a full backup once every other week for each server. Schedule Full Sat-Sun, Incremental Mon-Fri - It's pretty common to schedule for the weekends if there's no user activity so the backup has time to complete and then use incrementals midweek to capture real changes to the servers. In that case you'll need to determine the amount of time it takes to run a full backup and plan accordingly. For example, you keep the data on multiple copies of backup media and want each to be ready for use. Very good for preserving a shorter chain in case you need to do a restore.įull active backup isnt required but lets assume you have to meet a corporate Backup Policy that regularly performs a new Full Backup. This method follows your incremental retention plan, then injects the full VBK backup file with the data and erases the incremental file. You could run a single full backup and then add onto it with incrementals forever, Veeam calls itįorever forward incremental (FFI). Depends on how sure you are of the integrity of your backup.
